Amy and Jack's House, Chapel Hill, NC. =0= National Humanities Center, Durham, NC. =0=
In mid December I started a road trip to visit my family in Dallas. My first stop was to visit Amy and Jack. They each took a one year fellowship at the National Humanities Center in Durham, NC and rented a house in Chapel Hill, NC (above). They tend to spend most of their time at the Center and so I followed them in on Sunday morning. It is on a nicely forested campus (above). Here is a picture of the main entrance. As you enter the building you overlook the central area where the staff serves breakfast and lunch to the fellows. The building engineering plant (heating and cooling and such) is all in the area above the central area accessed via the spiral staircase. Yuck. Off to the side of the central area is a Christmas tree which the staff decorates with ornaments from previous fellows. Jack was a fellow there in 1987 but doesn't believe that he had anything to do with that tradition then. He and Amy met when he was a fellow there. National Humanities Center, Durham, NC. =0=

Jack and Amy's offices are at the end of this wing. When Jack had been here previously he had been at the end of the other wing. They also have a kitchen area where there are diverse coffees with personalized cups as shown below. Also below is Jack's office. National Humanities Center, Durham, NC. =0=

Above are pictures of Jack and Amy at their desks. At the far end of their offices is a table and an area by the window where Amy and Jack put an air mattress for naps during the day. Amy took this picture of me as I was sitting in one of the chairs at the table. Below are pictures of Amy and Jack in the hallway outside their offices. Brian. =0=

While I was in the area I was able to join a local Dances of Universal Peace (DUP) at the Quaker Friends meeting house (but it was too late and dark for a picture) as well as the local Siddha Yoga Meditation center which rents space at the Bahai Center (shown here). Bahai Center, Durham, NC. =0=
