When I got back to New York, there were a few more interviews with CommerceHub, the company which my son, David, works for, though he has moved to their BuySpace subsidiary. The interviews went well and I started with CommerceHub on August 1. I had been contacted by a placement firm about a position with BuySpace. I mentioned that my son worked there (for the hiring manager) and he is very highly thought of there. However, there was a CommerceHub employee who wanted to transfer to BuySpace and I was a better fit for CommerceHub (more stable development which is at a slower pace so that my learning curve would be less of a problem). CommerceHub is located at the SUNY Nanotech Center shown here (it is big). Their offices are on the third floor out back, just behind the dumpsters (below). When I drive in, I park in the back lot above. The walkway over the road above and below is between the new main entrance and the building where I work. Here and above are pictures of the front entrance. The tower visible to the right in this picture is the building that is at the corner of Fuller and Washington, two very major roads. Below is the reception area at CommerceHub and the cubicle area where I work. CommerceHub has clear corporate values, including teamwork, respect, customer focus, and 'fun along the way'. Further, there is a real focus on these values which has created a very strong team environment. CommerceHub, SUNY Nanotech Center, Albany, NY. =0=

From my house in Watervliet, NY, it is about ten miles to work. The drive is very easy on freeways and about nine miles. The bike routes are less direct and there are several. Two are shown above. There is a route (shown here on Google Maps) that goes North of work, but it has me starting on Fuller which is very busy, under construction, and not a good bike route route. Below are pictures of the construction at Fuller Road and Washington Avenue. Drats, it also is 9.3 miles, the most direct route possible. Until they finish the construction on Fuller Road, I normally take one of the dozens of variations of the two routes shown above with me going in to work along the route on the left and coming home on a route similar to the one on the right.
