Toward the end of October I went by the VA hospital (shown here) which is only a little more than a mile from my new home. I asked that they transfer my records from Portland, OR and made an appointment for a physical with my new primary care provider. Albany VA hospital. =0=
The Albany VA hospital is right across the street from the Albany Medical Center which is a teaching hospital, one building of which is shown here. My primary care provider is a resident (doctor in training). My last primary care provider was a nurse pracititioner, but I was happy with that as she was quite competent and stayed with me for several years. My current resident is likely to leave in a few years (I presume). Albany Medical Center. =0=

In October, my son David and his girlfriend, Nina, got back from a Caribean cruise and are now engaged. They had shopped for rings before they left, so it really wasn't a surprise to anyone. After they got back, David took us all out to lunch on Sunday at Buca's. Here is Nina and David. They are happy together and so I am happy for them. Below is a picture of Nina's engagement ring and David with Nina's mom and Aunt Cathy as David was showing pictures from the cruise (on his iPhone). Nina and David. =0=

Toward the end of October I had an interview with a placement firm, Teksystems; they like to meet people before they place them. Their office is right next door their biggest Albany client, Bank of America, on State Street, the main drag through downtown Albany. Above is picture of State Street looking back up the hill toward the capital (away from the Hudson River). Next to that is an impressive building which is the state wide administration offices of the State University of New York (SUNY). Here and below are pictures of a wonderful old Episcopal church, St. Peterss. Also below is a newer building along State Street, presumably a NYS government building. As I bicycled back along State Street, there was the state capital building, shown here. Just beyond the capital building is the new Empire State Plaza Mall, shown below (at least views from State Street). NYS Capital. =0=

Further along State Street you get back to residential neighborhood and this impressive old church. It is currently the Emmanuel Baptist Church, but at the time this church was built my guess is that it was Catholic as the early Protestants did not like large and fancy buildings (too much pride of the ego). . =0=
On Sunday as I was bicycling back from the Unitarian / Universalist Society (not church) I noticed that the main drag on my way home, W. Erie, was blocked off just a block from my home. I asked and they were having a block party. Two blocks were blocked off. They had a trailer in the middle of the road with a live band, 'Standing Room Only'. The band was pretty good and they had food and a bouncy house, shown below. W Erie Block Party. =0=
