Mosquito Net. =0= Barbara, Kelly, and Sarah. =0=
In the summer it got pretty warm in Daegu and we didn't have an air conditioner, just fans. They had a really cool mosquito net. It was light, less than a pound and folded up like an umbrella. The mosquitos really loved the babies, so we were happy to be able to protect them (shown above). Above is a picture of Barbara feeding Kelly and Sarah (in yellow). Here is Kelly discovering Sarah (and vice versa). The floor was cement with lacquered rice paper over it, but there were heated water pipes under the floor. As was quite common there was rolled out padded linoleum (or whatever) on top of that, but not attached, just resting in place. As you can see we were ingenious in the usage of boxes and such for lack of regular furniture. Below is Sarah studying baby keys. Next to that is a view we often woke up to of the babies seeing what was going on. We had a chest of drawers from the Army and the drawers were taken out and padded as cribs (it kept the babies from crawling or rolling away, though there was just the one room, really). Above is a picture of Barbara in bed with Sarah and Kelly. Barbara is wearing of the six or so T-shirts that I was issued at West Point for PT (or Physical Fitness Training). Next to that is a picture of me changing Sarah's diapers (it sometimes got pretty warm). Here is Yun Hee feeding Sarah. Below is Kelly and Sarah in their baby chairs and next to that is Yun Hee with the diapers. We got cloth diapers at the PX and folded them to fit. Yun Hee washed them by hand in the kitchen and then hung them out to dry as shown (she was great). However, if it was raining, we would hang them on lines (nylon rope) strung across our room and they would dry with the fans. Yun Hee and Sarah. =0=
