The Supe's house is just off the plain and has a very nice garden (above) where the reception was. The current Supe at West Point is Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen who was also class of 1975 (my class). Each weekday afternoon there was a practice parade and this Thursday there was a practice parade shown here. I made a short video of the parade. This would be only one of the four regiments and they are in their class uniform, not the full dress uniforms for the real parade. ...There were over 300 grads in my class who came to the reunion which was over a third, quite a lot considering that grads had settled all around the U.S. and beyond. However, I didn't get to know many cadets. For four years I lived with Company D-1, only about 25 grads for 1975 and only one, David came to the reunion. We went to classes by regiment and were assigned to 'sections' by standing in the course. I tended to do well in most courses and so only really went to class with about 60 cadets (each section had 15 students, but the 'first section' was often pretty much the same cadets year after year). Of the cadets who I went to class with, only one attended the reunion (that I remembered), Jack. As we were seated in our sections by course ranking and Jack and I were similarly strong in math and science, not so strong in English and history, we often sat next to each other in most any class. The Supe was from the 3rd Regiment and so I normally would not have seen him, but had a chance to shake his hand at the reception. However, at the reception he greeted me warmly and on reflection he seemed familiar. Perhaps we had trained together one summer where we were grouped not by regiments. After the reception there was a memorial service for our fallen classmates. It was at the cadet chapel shown here and below. West Point, NY. =0=

On Friday we had a lunch at Ike Hall. Here are the cadets forming up for lunch. When I was a cadet we marched to breakfast, lunch, and supper, but I have read that now they have a stronger focus on academics and, so, don't march to breakfast or supper any more. Below are pictures of David and I after the luncheon at Ike Hall. The reunion was sponsored by the West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG). They ask graduates to contribute to 'class gifts' which commonly provide facilities which aren't funded by Congress. At the luncheon they told us about our class gift which was to help fund the Center for Character Development. West Point, NY. =0=
