The next weekend I was back out at the Patroon Farm with a small Meetup group. There were four of us from Meetup and about 40 from the local LDS community. We were picking and sorting tomatoes. Above is Laura explaining about which tomatoes to pick and such. We picked everything that had any color as there was a big demand for the tomatoes. We sorted them into large and small, red and pink (more like mostly green). We also had a box for scarred tomoatoes for canning. Anything that was leaking / bleeding was to be thrown away as they wouldn't last the few days before anyone would look at our boxes of tomatoes. Instead, some volunteers collected the better of the bleeders for immediate canning (not in a few days after they would have spoiled). Regional Food Bank Patroon Farm, NY. =0=

On the last weekend in September, Lamala led a retreat at the KTD Tibetan Monastery in Woodstock, NY which I attended. The retreat ran from Thrusday evening to Sunday afternoon and I took Friday off. Each year there are changes at the KTD. It seems the building inspector was giving the KTD a hard time about the dorms in the basement of the shrine (above) where I have stayed for oh several years as in these old pictures. As a result they had converted some of the rooms into dorms. I took three pictures of one of the new dorm rooms I stayed in and the view, with the only difference being how bright it was outside. It is interesting how different the coloring comes out with my current camera. KTD Tibetan Monastery in Woodstock, NY. =0=

At the KTD they now have residential volunteers who aren't staff but can stay for free room and board if they volunteer / work for a certain number of hours (less than the normal staff). For the first two nights I only had one roommate, Mitchell but on Saturday night we were joined by two Buddhists from Connecticut. Mitchell had set up his own little room in the walk in closet. Perhpas he is longing for the life of a hermit / yogi living in a cave? I shouldn't judge, of course. His converted room is about 2/3 the area of my room so I am certainly comfortable with living in a small area. Below are pictures of Mitchell as he was running the AV during the teachings. The first picture which was really great came out washed out for causes unknown so I took another. KTD Tibetan Monastery in Woodstock, NY. =0=

The KTD now has a video camera which you can see on the left here (tripod wrapped in a blanket) with Mitchell in the background. On the bottom right is a picture in the kitchen where volunteers and staff can watch the program while they work. Sounds awesome. I would be happy to peel potatoes and such as the program goes on. Also below is Scott from Minnesota who sang Buddhist songs for us. Sadly there were less than usual from the Dallas sangham (community), only about a dowzen, and so there weren't many people to sing along. KTD Tibetan Monastery in Woodstock, NY. =0=
