This year the youth programs are run in Tyler (shown here) rather than Muse which was not air conditioned. Much more comfortable. Sunday afternoon at 4 we had a staff meeting / picture. Above and below are Jane, the youth program director with her 16 month old baby (had been 4 months old last year when Jane was also youth director. Jane can be quite expressive. :-) Here is the photographer getting ready to take our picture. SUUSI, Radford, VA. =0=

Above is Jane with the assistant youth director, Ann, who will be next year's youth director (and Jane will be assistant). There were three groups of seven - eight year olds. I was the Age Group Leader for Group A, color coded red on our schedules. This was my first year as an Age Group Leader which was a stressor for me and I wrote a rambling tale about that. Above are Anthony, Luther, Selema, Zoe, and Moxie. Selema and Zoe are sisters and Zoe was added to my group so they could be together, giving me eleven. Here is Phillipe, Hannah, Mariah, Zander, and Anthony. Below are Catie (or Cahterine), Becca (or Rebecca) and Phillipe. They were our group with Becca and Phillipe being staff and they were awesome, great with the kids and taking their job seriously. Toward the end Becca was running out of energy as she was trying to have fun at SUUSI with her own age group while also being on staff, something very difficult to do. I was primarily focussed on enjoying my experience with the kids and had a wonderful time. SUUSI, Radford, VA. =0=

Above and here are pictures of the youth program kids getting their age groups photos. Here and below are Gabbie (or Gabriela). She arrived on Tuesday after her family had a difficult time getting to SUUSI. We had communal areas for all the 7-8 year olds and below are Gabbie, Selema, Zoe, and Catie in the Lego room which was most popular. SUUSI, Radford, VA. =0=

In the mornings we would take our group to different workshops like music. The woman who led the music group was really great with the kids and after learning the song we did at the closing circle, we played a game where we went around choosing a song that we knew and everyone joining in with the part that they knew. All was great fun. I made a short video of them singing one such song. My camera seems to have been upside down when I took the video and I editted it after the fact to correct that, but it doesn't show up corrected on the web. What to do? SUUSI, Radford, VA. =0=

We also had and arts and craft workshop shown above. One of the workshop leaders took our picture including me. My old tool to adjust images came with my old Kodak EasyShare camera, now lost. It doesn't correct brightness and contrast on non Kodak images (how does it know?) so I am using the cloud based app pixlr.com until I get something local. SUUSI, Radford, VA. =0=
