A group of us went to the Mountain Lake Hotel to check out a hike around Mountain Lake. The hotel is pretty large and nice, but they are having a hard time now as over a period of about one year their main draw, Mountain Lake, drained away and is little more than a small pond. It seems to be a natural lake that periodically turns into a salt pond. Mountatin Lake Biological Station near Blacksburg, VA. =0=

The hotel also had other things of interest for people to include a giant chess board. Here is my roommate contemplating the next move. :-) The hotel seems to now be most famous for the the 1987 movie, Dirty Dancing. After that we went to Radford University and checked out their RU Able rope / climbing / balance challenge course. Since SUUSI hasn't been able to lead spelunking (cave climbing / exploring) trips due to a fungus the bats have been suffering from, there is an interest in adding more exciting trips to their offerings.
