Andrew was riding a double decker bike made from two bike frames welded together as shown here. It was impressive to see him mount his tall bike as you can see in this video. I also made a video while we were riding. It was very nice and quiet, but video brings out very minor sounds as there are so few sounds (auto volume adjustment). The tradition of assigning people little plots of land to grow vegetables and such started in England in the late 1800's. The Albany orgnaization was started in the sixties, but then most of their land was leased and they eventually had to give those lots, now they own most of the lots they use. First we visited the Second Street Community Garden (above) then the Hill Street Community Garden (below). Andrew on tall bike. =0=

We also visited the Paul's Place Community Garden (above, here and below) with Mara (here) telling more about the different gardens. I think there were about thirty people on the ride and it was a very gentle ride. We would wait for red lights, but once the group started through an intersection we would block traffic until everyone was through (with people stopping to stop traffic and thank the drivers after we were all through).
