In January neither the Albany Dances of Universal Peace (DUP) circle nor the New Paltz circle had their monthly dances. Yikes! Fortunately I had been able to dance with the Raleigh circle on my return trip from Dallas. Then in January I heard from Karuna (here) that the Woodstock Kirtana (those are chants in the Hindu tradition) group had asked her to lead a DUP circle. Yippee! They meet at the Namaste Yoga Center in Woodstock, NY (above). Karuna often leads dances in Albany and New Paltz and helped organize the group that went to the DUP weekend retreat close to Athol, MA. Below are pictures of Karuna and Maitreya. Maitreya often helps lead dances in NY and also plays the guitar. Karuna. =0=

While we learning one chant, I made a video of Karuna and Maitreya. The light was not very good, but they are OK videos all things considered. Here is Karuna and Wendy. Karuna and Wendy. =0=
There were a couple of other musicians. Here is Amy, who played the drums, and Maitreya. Amy and Maitreya. =0=
2010 seems to be the year for medical stuff. I got my first colonoscopy (six years late as they recommend starting at age 50). I did it without any anesthgia, so was able to observe the process and remember the results. It was only moderately uncomfortable so I was glad I did. No polyps were found so I am due back in five years (in case they missed one). Also, when I was a senior at West Point I got a right ingunal hernia which they described as congenital. They fixed both sides, but at the end of 2009 the right hernia came back (apparently the channel where the testicles pass through early in life can remain open in some men and then reopens 35 years later). This time they put in a plastic mesh so perhaps it will last longer. I had spinal anesthgia and so remember a little of the procedure (the start and end), but suspect they gave me something in my IV as I don't remember any of the middle. However, after two weeks I was feeling much better, back to my usual calisthenics of situps and pullups. Great! Here is the lobby of the Albany VA. I was going to take more pictures but was soon told they don't allow pictures. Oh well. Albany VA lobby. =0=
At the end of January it was James' birthday. He wanted to have dinner at Jack's Oyster House which has been open for almost 100 years. We were fortunate and were able to be sitted at the corner table which is referred to as the Governor's Table as most Governor's of New York have eaten there. The dinner was most wonderful with strawberry flavored cotton candy. It is certainly a little pricey, but was well worth it. Here is James. My camera must have been in a funny setting as these pictures were way too dark. The pictures of David and Nina were completely dark. Below is a picture of Barbara (she was expressing her disapproval of my picture taking, perhaps she jinxed the camera and made the pictures come out too dark) and the street view of the restaurant.
