When I got back from my trip to Texas, the Restore was in the midst of a big project to insulate the ceiling and update their fire wall. I helped them shuffle the inventory from side to side clearing out the floor so that they could add syrofoam insulation to the ceiling. We were helped by a crew from State Farm Insurance. This crew was mostly from Schenectady, but there were other crews coming in on different days to finish up. It was nice working with them. Margaret started a team insulating the big doors to the loading dock and they got really excited about using up scraps. It was held in via friction and a tight fit and they covered it with wall paper. It is so cool now. Albany Habitat for Humanity Restore. =0=

On my back from the Restore, if I am driving and not on my bike, I pretty routinely stop by the Salvation Army Thrift Store (entrance on the left in this picture). They have phenomenal prices. The chairs below were 99 cents each (I got three) and I got the scanner below for $1.49. It was an old parallel port variety which means there is not a computer anywhere that could use it (so it may have been orverpriced), but I got it for the glass. I took my printer / scanner to Hawaii in my luggage and the glass broke. Replacement glass was over $25 (yikes) so I just used some plexiglass I had around. However, plexiglass scratches easily and shows up on the scans. What to do? Anyway, with those phenomenal prices I have filled out our apartment with most anything that I need (and I get to help the Salvation Army, too). Salvation Army, Albany, NY. =0=
